Delete your Giftay account
You can have your account and everything in it deleted. Redeem anything you have earned first — deletion takes your stamps with it.
This page covers the Giftay app, published by Neirfeno Limited.
Redeem first. Deleting your account deletes your stamp record. Any progress towards a reward goes with it and cannot be restored — not by us and not by the business. If you are three stamps from a free coffee, get the coffee first.
How to ask
Email support@giftay.co.uk with Delete my account in the subject line, from the email address you use to sign in.
Tell us:
- the email address on the account;
- whether you are deleting a member account, a business account, or both;
- whether you want everything deleted, or only particular data.
If you sign in with Apple and chose to hide your email, send the request from the relay address Apple gave you, or include it, so we can match the account. If you sign in with Facebook, tell us the name on the account.
Confirming it is you
We have to be satisfied you are the account holder before deleting anything, so nobody can wipe your stamps by pretending to be you. Emailing from the address on the account is normally enough. If we cannot match it we will ask for something further, and for the least we can.
How long it takes
We acknowledge within 2 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days. If anything delays it we will tell you before the 30 days are up and explain why.
What is deleted
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your account and sign-in record | Deleted. You cannot sign in again and the account cannot be recovered. |
| Your stamp and reward history | Deleted, including unredeemed progress. |
| Your push notification token | Deleted. Notifications stop. |
| Analytics tied to your installation | Deleted, where you consented and it is still within the retention window. |
| A business listing, its images and its schemes | Deleted, where you are deleting a business account. |
Deleting the app from your phone removes the local copy. It does not delete what we hold, which is why this request exists.
Facebook sign-in
Deleting your Giftay account removes what we hold. It does not remove what Meta holds about your use of Facebook Login. To deal with that, remove Giftay from your Facebook settings and use Meta's own tools — see the privacy policy.
What we keep, and why
| Data | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Records of anything you bought | 6 years | We are required to keep records of transactions for tax purposes. This is the purchase record, not your card details — we never had those. |
| Posts you wrote about a business | Until you ask us to remove them | They are shown to other members. Ask in the same email and we will take them down. |
| Encrypted backups containing your deleted data | Up to 90 days, then overwritten | Backups run on a cycle and cannot be edited in place. Nothing is restored into the live service. |
| A record that the request was made and completed | 6 years | To show the ICO, or a court, that we did what you asked |
| Support correspondence about the request | 24 months | So we can answer if you come back to us |
| Anything we must keep by law | As long as the obligation runs | Legal obligation, or defending a claim |
Deleting a business account
If you run a shop on Giftay, closing your account removes your listing and ends your schemes. Tell your members first. People with unredeemed stamps for your shop will lose them, and they earned them on the strength of what you offered.
Give us a date if you want the listing to stay up until then, and we will work to it.
Deleting only some of it
You do not have to delete everything. If you would rather remove a post, stop notifications, or withdraw consent to analytics or Facebook sign-in and keep the account, say so and we will do that instead.
Your other rights
Erasure is one of several rights. You can also ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, or object to how we use it — see the privacy policy.
If we refuse a request we will tell you why and how to challenge it. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint at any point.
